Domain Analysis: Wealth (財富命理)

Wealth analysis is the domain where all three major BaZi schools converge most productively. Each approaches the question (does this chart have wealth capacity, and when does wealth arrive?) from a different analytical angle. The most accurate wealth reading uses all three perspectives.

The Two Wealth Stars: Direct and Indirect (正財與偏財)

Wealth Capacity Assessment (財多身弱問題)

The fundamental question is not "does the chart have Wealth stars?" but "is the Day Master strong enough to manage them?"

財多身弱 — "Much Wealth, Weak Self": Surrounded by resources they cannot manage. Classical: 終為他人做嫁衣裳 — "Ultimately sewing the bridal gown for others."

財少身旺 — "Little Wealth, Strong Self": High capacity, limited immediate resources. Peak wealth arrives in mid-to-late Luck Pillars.

財旺身旺 — "Prosperous Wealth, Prosperous Self": Ideal configuration for sustained wealth accumulation.

Ziping School Wealth Reading (子平派財富分析)

• Direct/Indirect Wealth Structure charts: Wealth is the structural anchor. Yong Shen = Output star generating Wealth (食傷生財). Favourable pillars bring Output or Officer (protecting Wealth). Unfavourable pillars bring Rob Wealth (stealing Wealth) or Seal (blocking the Output).
• Other structures with Wealth as Xi Shen: In Direct Officer structure, Wealth generates the Officer (財生官) — Wealth is the Favoured God feeding the structural element.
• Structure quality and wealth: Pure (清格) Wealth structure = reliable, growing financial capacity. Broken (破格) Wealth structure = financial instability that resolves through rescue Luck Pillars.

Wuxingpai School Wealth Reading (五行派財富分析)

• Weak Day Master: Wealth stars = Ji Shen (忌神, Unfavoured). Adding Wealth increases burden. Classical: 財多身弱，逢財更弱 — "Much Wealth with Weak Self; when Wealth comes, Self weakens further."
• Strong Day Master: Wealth stars = Yong Shen (用神, Useful). Day Master has sufficient elemental force to manage Wealth productively. Wealth Luck Pillars become peak financial decades.
• Monthly precision: Within a Wealth Luck Pillar decade, specific months where the Wealth element is activated are peak action windows for major financial transactions.

Mangpai School Wealth Reading (盲派財富分析)

Wealth Vaults (財庫):

• Chen (辰): Water vault — Wealth for Wood Day Masters (Wood controls Water)
• Xu (戌): Fire/Wood vault — Wealth for Earth and Metal Day Masters
• Wei (未): Wood vault — Wealth for Earth Day Masters
• Chou (丑): Metal vault — Wealth for Wood and Fire Day Masters

Three vault opening methods: (1) Clash opening (沖庫) — opposing branch arrives in Luck Pillar or annual flow; (2) Three Harmony completion (三合) — remaining two branches of the Harmony group appear; (3) Self-opening — rare vault-own-branch repetition.

Zuo Gong wealth pattern: When the Day Branch is a Wealth vault containing the Wealth element as hidden stem, the Day Master "sits on Wealth" — latent capacity released when the vault is activated by clash.

Hidden Wealth — Latent Capacity (伏財)

Hidden Wealth = Wealth element buried as secondary/residual hidden stems within branches, not appearing in Heavenly Stems.

• More protected from Rob Wealth attacks — cannot be "seen" and therefore not easily contested.
• Classical: 財喜藏而不露 — "Wealth prefers to be hidden rather than exposed."
• Activation: When annual or Luck Pillar Heavenly Stem carries the Wealth element, it "pulls out" the hidden Wealth (透干), making it temporarily active — peak wealth realisation windows even with no stem-level Wealth in the natal chart.

The Father Star Connection (偏財代父)

Indirect Wealth represents the father for both genders. The Indirect Wealth's state indicates:

• Father's finances: Rooted, prosperous = stable, generous father. Attacked, poorly-rooted = father struggled financially.
• Father's health: Heavily clashed or absent Indirect Wealth = early loss of father, separation, or distant relationship.
• Inheritance: Wealth vault branch containing Indirect Wealth as hidden stem + opening mechanism in Luck Pillar sequence = classical inheritance indicator.

The Rob Wealth Danger Pattern (劫財破財)

• Natal Rob Wealth with Wealth stem: Classical competition for resources pattern — business partnerships ending in financial disputes, competitors capturing market share, siblings benefiting from wealth the person generated.
• Annual flow Rob Wealth during Wealth structure: Most dangerous financial year in a Wealth structure chart. Major losses, fraudulent transactions, or resource depletion.
• Remedy: Officer controls Rob Wealth. This is why Wealth-Officer co-presence is a classical wealthy-and-noble combination: Officer not only elevates standing but protects Wealth from competition.
