1. The Annual Guardian (值年太歲)
In Liuren Fajiao, the Tai Sui (太歲 — Grand Duke Jupiter) is the Grand Commander of the Year — a celestial bureaucrat who oversees the fortunes, obstacles, and transformative events of all beings during his annual mandate. The Tai Sui system operates on the same Sexagenary Cycle (六十甲子) as the Chinese calendar. Each of the 60 year-combinations has its own Tai Sui General — a celestial officer with a specific name, character, and administrative focus.
Ba Wu Jin Ji Perspective: Through proper ritual and the authority of the Liuren Immortal Master, practitioners can harmonize with the Tai Sui's energy, turning potential conflict into protection and opportunity — rather than fearing the Tai Sui.
2. The Four Types of Tai Sui Conflict (犯太歲四型)
| Conflict Type | Chinese | Relationship | Metaphysical Impact | Severity |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Clash (Fan) | 犯太歲 / 沖太歲 | Birth year branch directly opposes current year branch (e.g., Rat year person in Horse year) | Direct opposition to the Year's authority; turbulence in health, career, and relationships; major upheaval | High |
| Harm (Hai) | 害太歲 | Birth branch is in the Harm relationship with current year branch (6 specific pairs) | Subtle undermining; hidden betrayals; health issues that resist diagnosis | Medium-High |
| Punishment (Xing) | 刑太歲 | Birth branch in the Three Punishments (三刑) relationship with current year | Legal complications, governmental difficulties, interpersonal conflicts with authority figures | Medium |
| Breaking (Po) | 破太歲 | Birth branch in the Broken relationship with current year (specific 6 pairs) | Disruptions to plans; things built fall apart mid-way; incomplete projects | Lower |
3. The Annual Tai Sui Ritual Protocol (太歲符儀程)
The Tai Sui Talisman is a mandatory annual adjustment for all practitioners and their primary clients. Key phases: Preparation (last 3 days of the old lunar year — identify the incoming General's name), Installation (4th day of the Lunar New Year — write the Fu with the year's General's name in the talisman Gall; conduct altar petition; post in the East sector), Periodic Offering (monthly on the 1st and 15th of the lunar month — light incense, recite harmonization formula), and Release Ceremony (last day of the lunar year — burn the talisman at the altar with gratitude to the departing General).
