1. Morning Practice (晨課 - Chénkè)
Liuren Fajiao power comes from consistent daily connection with the Ancestral Masters, the altar, and one's own cultivation — consistency over intensity. Think of it like physical fitness: one hour of intense exercise per month does nothing; ten minutes every day transforms your body.
The Morning Altar Greeting (15–20 minutes) follows seven steps: (1) Physical Preparation — wash face and hands; (2) Light Incense — light one or three sticks, hold at heart level, bow three times, place in burner; (3) Invocation — recite the Master Incantation (Zong Jue) three times, call upon the lineage, acknowledge the Thirteen Guardians; (4) Offerings — offer a cup of tea or fresh water; (5) Morning Meditation — sit quietly, focus on breath, visualize golden light descending from the altar into your body; (6) Set Daily Intention — ask how you will use the Fa today to reduce suffering; (7) Closing — bow three times, say Gong Cheng Xie Tan (功成謝壇 — The Work is Complete, Gratitude to the Altar).
2. Evening Practice (晚課 - Wǎnkè)
End your day with gratitude, review, and protective sealing. The Evening Altar Review (10–15 minutes): Light evening incense, bow three times, refresh water offerings. Reflect silently on whether you used the Fa wisely today. Acknowledge any errors. Express gratitude. Perform Protective Sealing: recite the Iron Plate Shield mantra, visualize a sphere of golden light surrounding your home, seal all doorways and windows with hand seals if learned.
3. Lunar Calendar Awareness
Certain lunar dates carry heightened spiritual energy: New Moon (初一, Chu Yi) — ideal for setting new intentions and beginning practices; Full Moon (十五, Shi Wu) — peak energy for charging talismans and performing prosperity rituals; Teacher's Birthday — honor your Shifu with special offerings; Lineage Founding Date — commemorate Fuying Hall transmission (varies by branch).
Monthly Deep Practice (1–2 hours): thoroughly clean and rearrange altar, perform a full Kaitan (開壇) ritual, review all learned sections (1–19) and practice each technique once, write in your practice journal.
4. Portable Practice
One of the beauties of Liuren (thanks to Ba Wu Jin Ji) is that practice can happen anywhere. Travel Altar Kit: photo of your teacher, small incense sticks, portable incense holder, small cup for water offerings, and your most essential talisman.
No-Tools Practice (in airports, offices, or public spaces): close your eyes, place hands in prayer position, visualize your home altar, silently recite the Master Incantation 3x, perform hand seals discretely. The Ancestral Masters hear you regardless of external circumstances.
