Reading Romance in 五行派 (桃花論)
Few topics are more distorted by 神煞 shorthand than 桃花 (romance and attraction). The founder's correction is blunt: the so-called four 桃花 branches 子午卯酉 are not automatically romance — 這四個字其實跟桃花一點關係也沒有. Romance, like everything else in this school, is read through actual 五行 flow and the Ten Gods, not through a fixed label. This module gives the diagnostic, agency-respecting reading the tradition actually uses.
桃花 is a Ten-God reading, not a branch label (桃花看十神，不看神煞)
The anchor is gendered by the relevant star: for a man, romance is read through the 財星 (Wealth star); for a woman, through the 官星 / 官殺 (Officer/Killing star). The 子午卯酉 branches are demoted to irrelevance where the flow does not support them — a man with the four “peach-blossom” branches but no visible or rooted 財 reads as having weak romance, and the picture only activates when a supporting year (e.g. a 甲/乙 Wood year for a chart whose romance star is Wood) arrives without the luck cycle damaging it. The four cardinal branches, the founder notes, more often correlate with mental turbulence or 冲刑 friction than with love.
Conditions for a strong romance pattern (桃花成立的條件)
- Combination to the romance star: a strong pattern often needs the Day Master to combine to its romance star (日主合桃花星) without a competing combination (不能有爭合) pulling that star away.
- For a man: the 財 must actually be present and reachable; hidden or absent 財 reads as thin romance regardless of branches.
- For a woman: the 官殺 must not directly injure the Day Master. Favourable female patterns pair the officer with protection or output — 官殺 + 正偏印, 官殺 + 比劫, or 食傷 + 正偏財 + 官殺 — so the relationship star supports rather than strikes the self.
A spouse-appearance heuristic by the day branch (日支看配偶)
The founder offers a light reading of partner temperament from the day branch (日支), to be held loosely and never as a decree: 子午卯酉 tends toward attractive but stronger-tempered; 辰戌丑未 toward plainer but gentler; 寅申巳亥 toward ability- and capability-focused. As with all 宮位 (palace) reading in this school, position is auxiliary — it identifies a field, but the actual reading depends on whether the relevant star is injured, protected, absent, or activated by the luck cycle. Romance here is diagnostic and preparation-oriented: it describes tendencies and timing windows to understand, not a fated verdict on whom or when a person must love.
