Decade Trigger, Annual Images, and Personalized BaZi Feng Shui (流年大運與八字風水)
The Mangpai phrase 一命二運三風水 orders the three forces that shape a life: the natal chart (命) sets the baseline of station and resource — roughly half to sixty percent of the picture — the luck cycle (運) triggers about a fifth more by activating what the natal chart already contains, and the surrounding environment (風水) is the broader field in which both express. The key principle of this module is that the luck cycle does not create what the natal chart lacks; it is, in the founder's image, only the fuse that draws out what was already packed into the chart — 運勢只是將你命裡面原有的東西所引導出來的一根導火線.
大運 as the field, not the event (大運定乾坤)
The decade pillar (大運) governs the overall 吉凶 field for ten years: a good decade makes a poor year manageable, while a poor decade caps even a strong year — 大運的好壞已經決定了你這幾年到底是吃肉還是喝湯. Read it by these rules:
- The decade's 天干 governs the first five years; its 地支 governs the last five.
- 進氣 (entering): a decade's character can arrive early — once the decade stem 透出 in the heavenly stems it begins to act, sometimes a couple of years ahead of the formal change.
- A decade character reaches maximum force once it appears, even if it was weak or absent in the natal chart — like a minister suddenly handed the emperor's seal.
Recognized stems versus false stems (認領與虛字)
This is the lineage's safeguard against misreading an incoming character. A character present in the natal chart is real (原局出現的字為真). A character absent from the natal chart, when it arrives by cycle, must be 認領 — recognized — by having a root in a branch or by being generated by another star. If it has neither root nor generation, it is 虛 (false) and carries deception: it can make money or opportunity seem to appear and then vanish, the classic signature behind sudden MLM, direct-sales, or health-product losses in an unrecognized cycle character. The order in which any incoming character acts is fixed: first 合 (its party force via 三合/五合/三會), then 生, then 克 of others, and last being 克. Always read the natal chart first — especially the 月令 and 時支, because when those two do real work, the chart carries social resource and structure.
流年 names the event (流年取象看事)
If the decade decides whether a period is good or bad, the year identifies what concrete kind of event happens — 大運主管吉凶，流年看當年發生什麼事. The annual character is read by whether it exists in the natal chart, whether it is recognized, what it combines/generates/controls, and which natal image it activates. A natal character reappearing in a year acts with the same force it held natally (unlike in a decade, where the appearing character becomes strongest); an absent character arriving in a year can carry maximum force — the minister rebelling against the emperor. For extreme, lopsided charts — the classic case being a 甲木 Day Master floating in excessive Water with no standing root — the reading shifts to 象法 (image method): picture the tree's soil, sunlight, water, and root, and ask what the living image actually needs (here, a 辰土 reservoir to gather the water and give the root something to stand on) before judging any year.
Personalized BaZi Feng Shui (個性化八字風水)
The third force, environment, the lineage reads in an individualized way that differs from generic large-environment Feng Shui. The principle: when a chart's 五行 or 十神 is struck, the surrounding physical environment may show a corresponding breakage, and the very same symbol can also surface as a life event — 當你的五行受克的時候，你周圍的環境就會做出相應的反應. Read the household through the Day Master plus 十神, 五行, and 宮位 類象:
- Object images (類象): 印 maps to clothing, car, house, and protection; 食神 to food and drink; 禄 to health; 辰 as a water store images a water dispenser; 戌 as a fire store images the kitchen; 辛酉 images bottles, metal, and jade objects. A 辰戌冲 can show kitchen/sink/water-dispenser trouble; a struck 印 can touch mother, house, or car.
- Palace proximity: the 日, 時, and 月 pillars read as the near environment; the 年 pillar as the farther field.
- Worked image: a chart with very strong Wood 食傷 and a weak, struck 酉 Metal 印 — in a year when the 酉 is hit by 卯 — read as a metal/jade object breaking at home, with the same 食傷剋印 striking the 印's body domain; treated strictly as a diagnostic correspondence, never a decree.
- Adjustment (調整): remove or clean the items of the disfavoured element and add objects of the useful element — 清理比較忌的五行，而增加你所喜歡的五行. Because it is fitted to one chart, this is personalized, preparation-oriented adjustment, not a universal rule.
As with all timing work in this school, the decade-trigger, annual-image, and environmental layers are read to understand tendencies and to prepare — when to act, when to guard, what to adjust — never as a fixed verdict.
