1. The Philosophy of Spiritual Suppression (制煞伏魔之道)
In Liuren Fajiao, Evil Control (制煞 — Zhì Shā) is the advanced discipline of suppressing active malevolence without necessarily "Capturing" or "Expelling" the source. It is the use of Lineage Pressure (靈脈壓制) to force hostile energies or spirits into a state of paralysis or submission — an act of Spiritual Governance rather than combat.
The distinction between Evil Control and Exorcism (Section 11, Section 71) is critical: exorcism involves the complete removal of an entity from a space or person. Evil Control suppresses the entity's capacity to act while it remains in place. This approach is chosen when complete removal is impossible (the entity is too deeply rooted), premature (the timing is not right for full expulsion), or unnecessary (the level of harm is limited enough that paralysis achieves the protective objective without the higher-risk confrontation of full exorcism).
Evil Control is a hallmark of the Sanshanjiao (Three Mountains Teaching) — the practitioner has accumulated enough ritual authority to speak with the weight of the Altar's mandate, and that weight alone is sufficient to force lesser hostile forces into submission.
2. Suppression vs. Expulsion: Choosing the Right Response (制伏與驅逐的選擇)
| Factor | Choose Suppression (Zhi Sha) | Choose Expulsion (Qu Xie) |
|---|---|---|
| Entity Power Level | Entity is moderately powerful — sufficient Altar authority to suppress but full expulsion would risk severe recoil; suppression buys time to accumulate resources for full exorcism | Entity is within the practitioner's degree-level capacity for full removal; or entity is weak enough that expulsion requires minimal force |
| Client's Karmic Relationship | Divination reveals the entity has a karmic relationship with the client (past-life connection, oath debt) that cannot be severed by force without harming the client | No karmic entanglement identified; the entity is purely hostile with no legitimate claim on the client's energy field |
| Urgency | Emergency stabilization needed immediately — suppression takes minutes; full exorcism requires preparation time and materials | Full preparation time is available and the entity's continued presence poses ongoing risk that suppression alone cannot adequately contain |
| Location | Entity is deeply rooted in the structure of a property (architectural Sha) — suppressing its activity is feasible; complete removal would require demolition | Entity is a mobile entity attached to a person or easily displaced from a space; expulsion is complete and leaves no residual |
3. Three Methods of Evil Control (三種制煞法)
| Method | Chinese | Metaphysical Action | Degree Required |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fu Mo Talisman (Evil-Suppressing Fu) | 伏魔符 | Applying the "Mountain Weight" (山壓 — Shān Yā) of the Liuren Altar's authority to the entity's Qi — the talisman functions as a spiritual millstone that presses down on the hostile force, preventing upward or outward movement | Sanshanjiao+ |
| Zhi Sha Talisman (Sha-Controlling Fu) | 制煞符 | "Locking" the Five Directions (五方封鎖) of the entity's energetic field — the talisman creates a five-directional containment that prevents the Sha from radiating outward into the environment | Sanshanjiao+ |
| Incantation Pressure (咒語震制) | 咒語震制 | Vibrational "pressure" directed at the hostile frequency — the practitioner's Zong Jue (總訣 — Master Incantation) resonates at a frequency that is incompatible with the entity's sustaining Sha, creating an internal disruption that forces the entity's energetic field to collapse into paralysis | Dajiao cultivation + Sanshanjiao authorization |
4. Lineage Law: Spiritual Governance (靈脈管治)
Evil Control is an act of Governance (管治 — Guǎn Zhì). By using the Altar's superior rank, the practitioner forces unauthorized spiritual energies to submit to the lineage's mandate — ensuring that the environment remains safe for ritual work and for the client's life.
- Righteous Submission (正義臣服): The goal is to force the Sha or entity to cease its harmful actions through the direct command of the Liuren Xianshi — not through the practitioner's personal power, which would be insufficient, but through the celestial judicial authority delegated to the practitioner by virtue of their initiated degree level.
- Altar Mandate (壇令): The authority to bind comes entirely from the practitioner's legitimate standing within the lineage degrees. A practitioner who has lost their Altar connection through ethical violations will find their Evil Control commands increasingly ineffective.
