In Liuren Fajiao, Ding Dan (定丹 - Internal Stability) is the process of "anchoring" the lineage power deep within the practitioner's spirit. It is the culmination of the Dajiao internal work, ensuring that the Fa-power is not just a temporary energy but a permanent part of the practitioner's constitution.
1. Anchoring the Lineage Power
Establishing internal stability requires the practitioner to unify their own character with the authority of the masters. This involves three stages:
| Stage | Focus | Result |
|---|---|---|
| Sealing (封) | Consistent daily renewal of the body seal. | Closing the energetic gates to external interference. |
| Rooting (根) | Deepening the bond with the Ancestral Altar. | Connecting the personal pulse to the lineage source. |
| Anchoring (定) | Maintaining stillness during high-stress rituals. | Preventing "Spirit Scatter" during spiritual conflict. |
2. Cultivating Spiritual Endurance (持久之道)
A Dajiao practitioner does not chase temporary "Highs" of energy. Instead, they focus on Endurance — the ability to keep the Fa-power steady even when physically or mentally tired. Key principles: Consistency (small, daily rituals build more stable power than occasional large ceremonies); Moderation (balancing secular life with spiritual practice to prevent burnout); Merit (continued Gong De acts as the "anchor weight" that keeps the spirit from drifting).
3. Inner Alchemy (Neidan) and the Microcosmic Orbit
The advanced stages of Ding Dan borrow concepts from Daoist Neidan (Inner Alchemy). The "Dan" (Elixir/Fetus) represents the concentrated essence of Fa-power gestating within the practitioner's energetic center. Stages include: (1) Gathering the Qi using the Heart Mantra; (2) Condensing the Light into a dense sphere; (3) The Microcosmic Orbit (Zhoutian) — circulating the gathered energy up the governing vessel (spine) and down the conception vessel (front); (4) The Immortal Fetus — the final stage where the Fa-power becomes an autonomous, self-sustaining spiritual "organ."
