In the Dajiao level, the practitioner develops Ling Gan (靈感 - Spiritual Sensitivity). This is not about leaving the body or "Astral Travel," but about refining the internal vision to receive Yin Chuan (引導 - Guidance) from the Ancestral Masters and the Altar.

This sensitivity is the foundation for accurate diagnostic work (Chá Shì) and ensures that the practitioner is acting in alignment with the lineage's will.

1. Developing the Internal Vision

A Dajiao practitioner uses silent contemplation to clear the "Mental Mirror" so that guidance can be received clearly. This involves three stages of sensitivity:

Sensitivity LevelDescriptionRitual Function
Feeling (感)Sensing sudden shifts in temperature or Qi during a ritual.Verifying the presence of the Masters or the severity of Sha.
Knowing (知)A sudden "Intuitive Hit" or clarity regarding a case root.Identifying the correct talisman or guardian for a specific task.
Seeing (見)Internal mental imagery or "visions" provided by the Altar.Receiving specific instructions for complex ritual interventions.

2. Protecting the Sensitivity

Spiritual sensitivity is a delicate state that must be protected through Righteous Conduct and proper Sealing.

  • Altar Anchoring: Always anchor your sensitivity in the Liuren Xianshi. Seeking guidance from "Wild Spirits" or external entities will cloud the internal vision.
  • Mental Sealing: Use the Zong Jue to seal your mind before and after receiving guidance to prevent external interference.
  • Humility: True Ling Gan is a gift from the lineage. Arrogance will cause the Masters to withdraw the guidance.

3. Historical Context and Daoist Meditation

The roots of Ling Gan practice stretch back to classical Daoist texts, specifically the Baopuzi (抱朴子) by Ge Hong (283–343 CE). Unlike standard seated meditation which seeks "emptiness" (Void), Liuren internal vision is active alignment. The practitioner enters a state of Cun Xiang (存想 - visualization) to connect explicitly with the Fuying Hall altar and the Ancestral Masters.
