The 100-Year Face Map (百歲面圖)
One of the most sophisticated tools in Mian Xiang is the 100-year face map — a complete correspondence between specific facial positions and specific ages in a person's life. By reading the luster, color, and markings at specific face locations, the practitioner can provide age-specific timing assessments.
The Three Life Zones
The face is divided into three horizontal zones: Heaven Zone (天庭, ages 15–30): The forehead region — represents ancestry, parental inheritance, early education, and early-life luck. A high, broad, smooth forehead indicates strong ancestral support and good early opportunities. Low, narrow, or marked forehead indicates limited early advantages. Human Zone (人中, ages 31–50): The middle face (brows to nose base) — represents career, social status, marriage, and self-made achievement. The Human Zone is where a person's independent character and achievements are most clearly expressed. Earth Zone (地閣, ages 51–100): The lower face (nose base to chin) — represents old age, property, subordinates, and legacy. A full, rounded chin indicates comfortable old age with strong support.
Age-Specific Position Mapping
Within each zone, specific positions correspond to specific years. The forehead maps years 15–30 with different positions corresponding to different years from the hairline down. The nose region maps years 41–50, with the bridge corresponding to ages 41–44 and the tip to ages 49–50. The mouth and chin region maps ages 51 onward.
How Timing Readings Work
The practitioner examines the color and luster at the position corresponding to the client's current age. Good color (bright, clear, well-nourished) indicates positive Qi for that age period. Dark, dull, or greenish color indicates obstacle or health concerns. Active moles at current-age positions amplify their corresponding effects. This allows precise timing guidance beyond what structural assessment alone can provide.
