Liao School (廖派) — Golden Essence & Dragon Gate

廖派——金精與龍門法

Liao School (廖派)

Liao Jinjing (廖金精, 943–1018), whose personal name was Liao Yu (廖瑀), earned the epithet 'Golden Essence' (金精) for his refined acupoint recognition techniques. A resident of Ningdu, Jiangxi, he studied under Zeng Wenchang (some accounts claim direct late-life training under Yang Yunsong).

Dragon Gate Method (龍門法)

The Liao School's signature contribution is the Dragon Gate (龍門) acupoint assessment method, which divides the area around a potential acupoint into nine functional positions:

  • Pre-Heaven Position (先天位): Water entry here is auspicious for descendants.
  • Post-Heaven Position (後天位): Water entry here is auspicious for wealth.
  • Heaven Robbery (天劫位): Water entry is strictly FORBIDDEN; water exit is highly auspicious.
  • Earth Punishment (地刑位): Water entry is FORBIDDEN; water exit is auspicious.

Gold Essence Melting Phase (金精鎔化)

An advanced technique for assessing how the incoming dragon's energy transforms as it approaches the acupoint. The 'melting' metaphor refers to the refinement of raw dragon energy into concentrated, usable qi at the precise acupoint location.
