ZWDS Stars Reference (紫微斗數星曜)
The 14 Major Stars (十四主星) form the backbone of any Zi Wei Dou Shu chart. They are divided into two groups that follow the Zi Wei (Purple Star) and Tian Fu (Heavenly Treasury) across the 12 palaces.
Zi Wei Group (紫微系星)
- Zi Wei (紫微): The Purple Star — Emperor. Nobility, authority, protection. The most important single star. Associated with leadership capacity and personal magnetism.
- Tian Ji (天機): Heavenly Secret — strategy, intelligence, change. Clever, analytical, but unstable. Good for planning and advisors.
- Tai Yang (太陽): The Sun — career, father, public life, fame. Excellent in the Career, Migration, or Parents Palace. Men benefit more than women.
- Wu Qu (武曲): Military Music — finance, metal, determination. The Wealth Star for action and commerce. Creates material results through direct effort.
- Tian Tong (天同): Heavenly Unity — happiness, leisure, benevolence. Gentle and kind. Favors creative, artistic, or social service careers.
- Lian Zhen (廉貞): Pure Virtue — politics, sexuality, volatility. The "Jailbird Star" — can bring either high office or imprisonment depending on chart configuration.
Tian Fu Group (天府系星)
- Tian Fu (天府): Heavenly Treasury — wealth accumulation, storage, management. Stable and reliable. Excellent for finance and property management.
- Tai Yin (太陰): The Moon — mother, home, emotions, real estate. Women benefit more than men. Associated with hidden wealth and emotional depth.
- Tan Lang (貪狼): Greedy Wolf — desires, arts, multiple talents, romance. The most versatile star — can be highly auspicious or a source of distraction.
- Ju Men (巨門): Giant Gate — communication, secrets, controversy, law. Creates ability in speech, law, investigation, and teaching.
- Tian Xiang (天相): Heavenly Minister — governance, mediation, printing. Provides structure and support. Excellent in the Career or Migration palace.
- Tian Liang (天梁): Heavenly Beam — longevity, protection, oversight. Medical, legal, or governmental careers. The "Medicine Star" — associated with healing.
- Qi Sha (七殺): Seven Killings — breakthrough, leadership, military. Confrontational but powerful. Creates results through direct challenge.
- Po Jun (破軍): Breaking Army — destruction and rebuilding, pioneering. Radical change, renovation, and new beginnings. The most transformative star.
