The Twelve Houses in QZSY (七政四餘十二宮)
The Twelve Houses (十二宮) in QZSY define the twelve life domains through which planetary influences manifest. Like Western astrological houses, each QZSY house governs a specific area of human experience — personality, wealth, relationships, career, and so on. The houses are determined by the Ascendant (命宮) position, which is calculated from the birth time and location, and they rotate the Twelve Ci framework to create an individualized chart.

House Determination
The Life Palace (命宮) is determined by the Ascendant — the Ci rising on the eastern horizon at the moment of birth, adjusted for geographic location. The remaining eleven houses follow in sequence. This is conceptually identical to how Western astrology assigns houses from the Ascendant, though the boundary calculation methods differ.
Comparison with ZWDS and Western Houses
The QZSY Twelve Houses share identical names with the ZWDS palace system (命宮, 財帛宮, etc.), reflecting their common Chinese astrological heritage. However, in ZWDS the palaces are determined algorithmically from the birth month and hour, while in QZSY they are determined astronomically from the actual horizon at birth. The Western 12-house system (Ascendant through 12th house) covers very similar life domains, though with different emphasis — the Western 12th house focuses on 'hidden enemies' and institutions, while the QZSY 相貌宮 emphasizes physical appearance alongside hidden matters.
Planetary Rulership of Houses
Each house has a natural planetary ruler based on the planet most aligned with its domain. The Life Palace is ruled by the Sun (core vitality), the Spouse Palace by Venus (relationships), the Career Palace by Saturn (structure and authority), and so on. When a planet occupies or aspects its own ruled house, its influence is considered especially potent and coherent.
