Day Master Profiles (十天干畫像)
The Day Master (日主) is the anchor of every BaZi audit. The Ten Stems are read as living elemental types with seasonal preferences, strengths, and failure modes.
Wood Stems (木)
- Jia 甲 — Yang Wood: The tall upright tree. Thrives with sunlight (Bing Fire) and deep water roots. Needs to stand independently. Weakness: rigidity, difficulty adapting. Prefers spring birth.
- Yi 乙 — Yin Wood: The vine or flowering plant. Flexible refinement. Needs structural support (Jia Wood) and protection from harsh metal. Adapts creatively to obstacles. Prefers spring and moderate seasons.
Fire Stems (火)
- Bing 丙 — Yang Fire: The sun — radiant leadership and warmth. Prefers clear air, stable fuel (Wood), and does not need more fire. Weakness: too much brilliance without focus. Thrives in autumn and winter.
- Ding 丁 — Yin Fire: The candle flame — precise illumination. Requires structure (Jia or Yi Wood as fuel) and delicate balance. Powerful but vulnerable to extinction. Benefits from winter birth with supportive wood.
Earth Stems (土)
- Wu 戊 — Yang Earth: The stable mountain or vast plains. Needs water circulation to avoid stagnation. Too much wood can loosen. Fire creates but can dry out. Excellent administrator and stabilizer.
- Ji 己 — Yin Earth: Fertile garden soil. Benefits from gentle fire and steady growth. Can become muddy with too much water. Excellent for nurturing others. Flexible and productive.
Metal Stems (金)
- Geng 庚 — Yang Metal: Raw unrefined metal or the axe. Favors fire refinement and precise cutting (Water for direction). Direct, courageous, and forceful. Needs tempering — too much metal creates violent patterns.
- Xin 辛 — Yin Metal: Refined jewelry or fine blade. Needs polish (gentle Water) and clear structure. Sensitive to impurities. Prefers autumn birth. Benefits from Ren Water to wash and display lustre.
Water Stems (水)
- Ren 壬 — Yang Water: The ocean or great river. Thrives with containment (Earth banks) and direction (Wood channel). Without structure, floods and causes harm. Adaptive intelligence — finds the path of least resistance.
- Gui 癸 — Yin Water: Morning mist or rain. Requires stability and clarity to gather power. Too much sun evaporates. Needs Metal to generate and Earth to collect. Mysterious, intuitive, perceptive.
