卦辭

剝:不利有攸往。

Splitting Apart. It does not further one to go anywhere.

象傳

象曰:山附於地,剝;上以厚下,安宅。

The mountain rests on the earth: the image of Splitting Apart. Thus those above can ensure their position only by giving generously to those below.


Interpretation

詮釋

剝卦象徵剝落與衰敗。山附於地,搖搖欲墜。暗示著陰盛陽衰,不宜妄動,應當守正待時。

Disintegration and decay. Mountain resting on earth, precarious. Suggests yin overwhelming yang, inadvisable to act rashly, should maintain correctness and wait.

Six at the beginning

初六

剝床以足,蔑貞凶。

The leg of the bed is split. Those who persevere are destroyed. Misfortune.

床腳剝落,滅正道凶。衰敗從基礎開始,正道受損。

Bed leg splitting, destroying the right path brings misfortune. Decay begins at the foundation, harming the correct way.

Six in the second place

六二

剝床以辨,蔑貞凶。

The bed is split at the edge. Those who persevere are destroyed. Misfortune.

床邊剝落,滅正道凶。衰敗繼續蔓延,更加危險。

Bed edge splitting, destroying the right path brings misfortune. Decay continues spreading, increasingly dangerous.

Six in the third place

六三

剝之,無咎。

He splits with them. No blame.

與之分離,無咎。在衰敗中脫離惡人,保全自己。

Separating from them brings no blame. Breaking from evil people amid decay, preserving oneself.

Six in the fourth place

六四

剝床以膚,凶。

The bed is split up to the skin. Misfortune.

剝到床面,凶。衰敗直達核心,災難臨身。

Splitting reaches the bed surface, misfortune. Decay reaches the core, disaster is imminent.

Six in the fifth place

六五

貫魚,以宮人寵,無不利。

A shoal of fishes. Favor comes through the court ladies. Everything acts to further.

串魚般統領眾人,以宮人之寵,無不利。順應陰柔以保陽剛。

Leading people like a string of fish, through favor with court ladies, everything furthers. Adapting to yin to preserve yang.

Nine at the top

上九

碩果不食,君子得輿,小人剝廬。

There is a large fruit still uneaten. The superior man receives a carriage. The house of the inferior man is split apart.

大果未食,君子得車,小人失屋。一陽來復,剝極必復,君子重獲支持。

Large fruit uneaten, the superior man receives a carriage, the inferior man loses his house. One yang returns, after extreme decay comes renewal, the superior man regains support.
