卦辭

賁:亨。小利有攸往。

Grace has success. In small matters it is favorable to undertake something.

象傳

象曰:山下有火,賁;君子以明庶政,無敢折獄。

Fire at the foot of the mountain: the image of Grace. Thus does the superior man proceed when clearing up current affairs. He dares not decide controversial issues.


Interpretation

詮釋

賁卦象徵文飾與美化。山下有火,光輝燦爛。暗示著形式與美感的重要,但需注重內在實質,不可過度裝飾。

Adornment and grace. Fire at mountain's base, brilliant illumination. Suggests importance of form and beauty, but must focus on inner substance, avoiding excessive decoration.

Nine at the beginning

初九

賁其趾,舍車而徒。

He lends grace to his toes. He leaves the carriage and walks.

修飾其腳趾,捨棄車輛步行。不慕虛榮,樸實自然。

Adorning the toes, abandoning the carriage to walk. Not pursuing vanity, remaining plain and natural.

Six in the second place

六二

賁其須。

Lends grace to the beard on his chin.

修飾其鬍鬚。依附於強者而修飾自己,隨從而動。

Adorning the beard. Depending on the strong while embellishing oneself, following their lead.

Nine in the third place

九三

賁如濡如,永貞吉。

Graced and moist. Constant perseverance brings good fortune.

文飾而潤澤,永久守正則吉。內外兼修,持之以恆。

Adorned and moistened, eternal perseverance brings fortune. Cultivating both inner and outer, maintaining consistency.

Six in the fourth place

六四

賁如皤如,白馬翰如,匪寇婚媾。

Grace or simplicity? A white horse comes as if on wings. He is not a robber, he will woo at the right time.

文飾或質朴?白馬如飛而來。非敵乃姻緣。去華就實,迎接真誠。

Ornament or simplicity? A white horse comes flying. Not an enemy but a marriage prospect. Abandoning artifice for substance, welcoming sincerity.

Six in the fifth place

六五

賁于丘園,束帛戔戔,吝,終吉。

Grace in the hills and gardens. The roll of silk is meager and small. Humiliation, but in the end good fortune comes.

於丘園中文飾,絹帛細小。雖儉樸略顯寒酸,但終吉。真誠勝過奢華。

Grace in gardens, silk is small. Though frugal and humble, the end is fortunate. Sincerity surpasses extravagance.

Nine at the top

上九

白賁,無咎。

Simple grace. No blame.

樸素無華的文飾,無咎。返璞歸真,達到最高境界。

Plain and simple grace brings no blame. Returning to simplicity, reaching the highest state.
