Yogas are specific planetary configurations that produce defined results in a native's life. They are the heart of predictive Vedic astrology, functioning similarly to the Chinese concept of Ge Ju (格局 - Chart Structures) in BaZi. Hundreds of Yogas are catalogued in classical texts, ranging from highly auspicious to deeply challenging.
Raja Yogas (Royal Combinations)
Formed when lords of Kendra houses (1, 4, 7, 10) combine with lords of Trikona houses (1, 5, 9) through conjunction, mutual aspect, or exchange. The strongest Raja Yoga occurs when a single planet rules both a Kendra and a Trikona (e.g., Mars for Cancer Lagna, ruling 5th and 10th). These combinations bestow authority, power, fame, and leadership — paralleling the Direct Officer (正官格) structure in BaZi.
Dhana Yogas (Wealth Combinations)
Formed by connections between the 2nd lord (stored wealth), 11th lord (gains), and Trikona lords. The presence of Jupiter or Venus strengthens wealth outcomes. Multiple Dhana Yogas in a chart amplify financial success — similar to the Wealth Structure (財格) concept in Four Pillars.
Pancha Mahapurusha Yogas (Five Great Person Yogas)
- Ruchaka (Mars): Mars in own/exalted sign in a Kendra — courage, military prowess, leadership.
- Bhadra (Mercury): Mercury in own/exalted sign in a Kendra — intellect, communication mastery.
- Hamsa (Jupiter): Jupiter in own/exalted sign in a Kendra — wisdom, spirituality, teaching.
- Malavya (Venus): Venus in own/exalted sign in a Kendra — beauty, luxury, artistic talent.

Viparita Raja Yoga

Neechabhanga Raja Yoga
A debilitated planet whose debilitation is cancelled by specific conditions — the dispositor being exalted, the debilitated planet being aspected by or conjoined with the exaltation lord, etc. Produces extraordinary results from humble or challenging beginnings, similar to the 'Illness and Medicine' (病藥) theory in BaZi.
