Vedic Astrology (Jyotish) — The Science of Light
Jyotish (吠陀占星) is the ancient Indian system of astrology. Rooted in the Vedas, it provides a mathematical and spiritual framework for understanding the soul's journey through time and space. Unlike Western tropical astrology, Jyotish uses the Sidereal Zodiac, aligning planetary positions with the actual constellations.
The Three Pillars of Jyotish
- Siddhanta (Astronomy): The mathematical foundation, covering planetary calculations, Ayanamsa (precession), and Panchangam.
- Samhita (Mundane): Large-scale astrological phenomena, omens, and collective destiny.
- Hora (Predictive): Natal astrology focusing on individual destiny through the Rashi chart and Dasha periods.
Core Components
- The Grahas (Planets): Nine primary influencers including the two nodes, Rahu and Ketu.
- The Rashis (Signs): Twelve signs that filter planetary energy.
- The Bhavas (Houses): Twelve life domains relative to the local horizon (Ascendant).
- The Nakshatras (Lunar Mansions): 27 sectors that reveal the deep psychological substrate.
