The 27 Nakshatras (二十七宿)
Nakshatras are the 27 divisions of the ecliptic, each spanning 13°20'. They form the backbone of Vedic astrology, determining the Dasha (planetary period) system and providing deep personality and karmic insights beyond the 12 Rashis (zodiac signs).
Structure
Each Nakshatra is divided into 4 Padas (quarters) of 3°20', creating 108 Navamsa divisions total. The Moon's Nakshatra at birth determines the starting Dasha lord in the Vimshottari system.
