Elder Futhark Runes (長老弗薩克)
The Elder Futhark is the oldest runic alphabet, consisting of 24 runes used by Germanic and Norse peoples from approximately the 2nd to 8th century CE. Each rune is simultaneously a letter, a sound, and a symbolic representation of cosmic forces.
Three Aettir (Groups of Eight)
- First Aett (Freya's Eight): Fehu through Wunjo — material and social world
- Second Aett (Hagal's Eight): Hagalaz through Sowilo — challenges and transformation
- Third Aett (Tyr's Eight): Tiwaz through Othala — higher purpose and legacy
Cross-Cultural Parallels
Like the I Ching's 64 hexagrams, runes serve as archetypal symbols bridging conscious and unconscious realms. The blank rune (Wyrd) parallels the concept of Wu Ji (無極) — the unknowable source.
