Judgment

卦辭

小畜:亨。密雲不雨,自我西郊。

The Small Taming Force has success. Dense clouds, no rain from our western region.

象傳

象曰:風行天上,小畜;君子以懿文德。

The wind drives across heaven: the image of Small Taming. Thus the superior man refines the outward aspect of his nature.


Interpretation

詮釋

小畜卦象徵微小的積蓄或暫時的阻礙。力量尚弱,不足以成就大事。暗示著應積累德行,等待時機。

Small accumulation or temporary restraint. Strength is insufficient for major achievements. Suggests refining character and waiting.

Nine at the beginning

初九

復自道,何其咎,吉。

Return to the way. How could there be blame in this? Good fortune.

返回正道,何咎之有?遵循本分則吉。

Returning to the correct path, what blame could there be? Following one's duty brings fortune.

Nine in the second place

九二

牽復,吉。

Drawn into returning. Good fortune.

被牽引而回歸正道,吉。順勢而為得以保全。

Being led back to the right path brings fortune. Going with the flow ensures safety.

Nine in the third place

九三

輿說輻,夫妻反目。

The spokes burst out of the wagon wheels. Man and wife turn their eyes away from each other.

車輻脫落,夫妻反目。強行前進導致失和。

The wheel spokes break loose, husband and wife quarrel. Forcing forward causes discord.

Six in the fourth place

六四

有孚,血去惕出,無咎。

If you are sincere, blood vanishes and fear gives way. No blame.

有誠信則危險消除,恐懼遠離,無咎。真誠化解危機。

With sincerity, danger vanishes and fear departs. No blame. Honesty resolves crises.

Nine in the fifth place

九五

有孚攣如,富以其鄰。

If you are sincere and loyally attached, you are rich in your neighbor.

有誠信而相互聯繫,與鄰里共享財富。互助共榮。

With sincerity and connection, wealth is shared with neighbors. Mutual benefit and prosperity.

Nine at the top

上九

既雨既處,尚德載,婦貞厲。月幾望,君子征凶。

The rain comes, there is rest. This is due to the lasting effect of character. The superior man carries things through. If the woman perseveres, danger.

雨已下,事已成,德行已滿。但若過度堅持則危險。月近滿則宜收斂。

Rain has fallen, tasks completed, virtue fulfilled. But excessive persistence brings danger. As the moon nears full, one should restrain.
