卦辭
晉：康侯用錫馬蕃庶，晝日三接。
Progress. The powerful prince is honored with horses in large numbers. In a single day he is granted audience three times.

象傳
象曰：明出地上，晉；君子以自昭明德。
The sun rises over the earth: the image of Progress. Thus the superior man himself brightens his bright virtue.
Interpretation
詮釋
晉卦象徵前進與進展。光明出於地上，如日初升，前程光明，宜受寵進升。
Progress and advancement. Light emerges from earth, like sunrise, bright prospects ahead, suitable for receiving favor and promotion.

Six at the beginning
初六
晉如，摧如，貞吉。罔孚，裕無咎。
Progressing, but turned back. Perseverance brings good fortune. If one meets with no confidence, one should remain calm. No mistake.
欲進卻被阻，守正則吉。不受信任，寬裕處之無咎。初進遇阻，不急躁即可。
Wishing to advance but obstructed, correctness brings fortune. Untrusted, remain tolerant without blame. Initial progress meets resistance, avoiding impatience suffices.
Six in the second place
六二
晉如，愁如，貞吉。受茲介福，於其王母。
Progressing, but in sorrow. Perseverance brings good fortune. Then one receives great happiness from one's ancestress.
前進但憂愁，守正則吉。受此大福，來自祖母般的上級。得中正之位，雖憂慮但終獲福。
Advancing but worried, correctness brings fortune. Receiving great blessing from grandmother-like superior. In balanced position, though anxious ultimately gains fortune.
Six in the third place
六三
眾允，悔亡。
All are in accord. Remorse disappears.
眾人信任，悔恨消失。得眾人支持，前進順利，悔恨自消。
Trusted by all, regret vanishes. With people's support, progress smooth, remorse naturally disappears.
Nine in the fourth place
九四
晉如鼫鼠，貞厲。
Progress like a hamster. Perseverance brings danger.
前進如鼴鼠，守之危險。貪婪囤積，不安其位，雖進有危。
Advancing like a mole rat, persistence brings danger. Greedy hoarding, unsettled in position, though advancing there is danger.
Six in the fifth place
六五
悔亡，失得勿恤，往吉無不利。
Remorse disappears. Take not gain and loss to heart. Undertakings bring good fortune. Everything serves to further.
悔恨消失，得失不必憂慮，前往吉祥無不利。居尊位而柔順，進必有成。
Regret vanishes, no need to worry about gains and losses, advancing brings fortune, nothing fails to further. In high position yet yielding, progress certain to succeed.
Nine at the top
上九
晉其角，維用伐邑，厲吉無咎，貞吝。
Making progress with the horns is permissible only for the purpose of punishing one's own city. To be conscious of danger brings good fortune. No blame. Perseverance brings humiliation.
進用其角，只能用於討伐己邑，危險但吉無咎，持續則恥。極進用武力，只可內懲不可外侵。
Advancing with horns, only for punishing own domain, dangerous but fortunate without blame, continuing brings disgrace. Extreme progress using force, only internal discipline not external aggression.
