卦辭
咸：亨，利貞，取女吉。
Influence. Success. Perseverance furthers. To take a maiden to wife brings good fortune.

象曰：山上有澤，咸；君子以虛受人。
A lake on the mountain: the image of Influence. Thus the superior man encourages people to approach him by his readiness to receive them.
Interpretation
詮釋
咸卦象徵感應與交流。澤在山上，少男少女相感。暗示著相互感應，真誠交往，特別有利於婚姻結合。
Influence and interaction. Lake on mountain, young man and woman responding. Suggests mutual influence, sincere interaction, especially favorable for marriage.

Six at the beginning
初六
咸其拇。
The influence shows itself in the big toe.
感應於大拇趾。初起感應微弱，動機萌芽但未成形。
Influence in the big toe. Initial influence is weak, impulse budding but not formed.
Six in the second place
六二
咸其腓，凶，居吉。
The influence shows itself in the calves of the legs. Misfortune. Tarrying brings good fortune.
感應於小腿，凶，安居則吉。衝動行事則凶，守靜等待則吉。
Influence in the calves, misfortune. Acting impulsively brings misfortune, staying calm brings fortune.
Nine in the third place
九三
咸其股，執其隨，往吝。
The influence shows itself in the thighs. Holds to that which follows it. To continue is humiliating.
感應於大腿，執著追隨，前往可恥。受情欲驅使而失自主，不當。
Influence in the thighs, stubbornly following, advancing brings shame. Driven by desire losing autonomy, inappropriate.
Nine in the fourth place
九四
貞吉，悔亡，憧憧往來，朋從爾思。
Perseverance brings good fortune. Remorse disappears. If a man is agitated in mind, and his thoughts go hither and thither, only those friends on whom he fixes his conscious thoughts will follow him.
守正則吉，悔恨消失。心意搖擺不定，只有志同道合者追隨。需專注真誠。
Maintaining correctness brings fortune, regret vanishes. Mind wavering, only like-minded follow. Need focus and sincerity.
Nine in the fifth place
九五
咸其脢，無悔。
The influence shows itself in the back of the neck. No remorse.
感應於脊背，無悔。心志堅定不可動搖，雖不易感人但無悔。
Influence in the spine, no regret. Will firm and unshakable, though not easily moving others, no regret.
Six at the top
上六
咸其輔頰舌。
The influence shows itself in the jaws, cheeks, and tongue.
感應於頰舌。只有言語而無誠心，口惠而實不至，膚淺之感。
Influence in jaws and tongue. Only words without sincerity, empty promises, superficial influence.
