What is Sak Yant?

Sak Yant (สักยันต์) translates to "Tattooing a Yantra." It is an ancient spiritual technology that encodes magical power into the body through sacred scripts (ancient Khmer Khom) and geometric patterns. In the Liuren context, this represents the Southern (Nanyang) branch of spatial and bodily protection magic.

The Three Master Yants

  • Hah Taew (Five Rows - ห้าแถว): The most versatile Yant. Row 1: Cleansing; Row 2: Horoscope Correction; Row 3: Black Magic Protection; Row 4: Luck and Ambition; Row 5: Metta Mahaniyom (Charisma).
  • Gao Yord (Nine Spires - เก้ายอด): The 'Master Yant'. Represents the nine peaks of Mount Meru and the nine Buddhas. It is typically the first Yant a disciple receives, symbolizing submission to the teacher (Kru).
  • Paed Tidt (Eight Directions - แปดทิศ): A circular Yant representing the universe's eight directions. It invokes protection and authority from all points of the compass, making it essential for travelers and those in shifting environments.

Activation and Ethics

A Sak Yant is not merely a decoration. It must be activated by a Master through Pao (Blowing) and Kata (Chanting). The power is maintained by the practitioner's adherence to the Five Precepts and specific lineage taboos (e.g., not eating certain foods or not stepping under clotheslines).
