1. Baopuzi: The Magician's Handbook (抱朴子)

Written by Ge Hong, a scholar-official and alchemist, this text is unique for bridging Confucian ethics with Daoist immortality practices. The Inner Chapters focus on esoteric alchemy and magic, while the Outer Chapters address social governance.

Ge Hong warns that the mountains are filled with spirits, tigers, and demons. One cannot enter safely without the "Three Treasures" of protection: Talismans (Fu), Mirrors, and Steps (Yu Pace).
