卦辭
漸：女歸吉，利貞。
Development. The maiden is given in marriage. Good fortune. Perseverance furthers.

象傳
象曰：山上有木，漸；君子以居賢德善俗。
On the mountain, a tree: the image of Development. Thus the superior man abides in dignity and virtue, in order to improve the mores.
Interpretation
詮釋
漸卦象徵循序漸進。木生山上，漸長高大。應德業日進，婚嫁得宜，循序而行。
Gradual progress and development. Trees on mountain, gradually growing tall. Should advance in virtue daily, marriage appropriate, proceed step by step.

Six at the beginning
初六
鴻漸於干，小子厲，有言，無咎。
The wild goose gradually draws near the shore. The young son is in danger. There is talk. No blame.
鴻雁漸進於水邊，小子危險，有議論，無咎。初進之時，雖有波折但終無過。
Wild goose gradually approaching waterside, young person in danger, there is gossip, no blame. Beginning progress, though setbacks but ultimately no fault.
Six in the second place
六二
鴻漸於磐，飲食衎衎，吉。
The wild goose gradually draws near the cliff. Eating and drinking in peace and concord. Good fortune.
鴻雁漸進於磐石，飲食安樂，吉。得中正之位，安樂順遂。
Wild goose gradually reaching rock, eating and drinking in peace, fortune. Attaining balanced position, peaceful and smooth.
Nine in the third place
九三
鴻漸於陸，夫征不復，婦孕不育，凶。利禦寇。
The wild goose gradually draws near the plateau. The man goes forth and does not return. The woman carries a child but does not bring it forth. Misfortune. It furthers one to fight off robbers.
鴻雁漸進於平陸，夫外出不歸，婦懷孕不育，凶。利於抵禦盜寇。進而失序，家破人散。
Wild goose gradually on plateau, husband goes not returning, wife pregnant but not bearing, misfortune. Benefits resisting bandits. Advancing without order, family broken people scattered.

六四
鴻漸於木，或得其桷，無咎。
The wild goose gradually draws near the tree. Perhaps it will find a flat branch. No blame.
鴻雁漸進於樹木，或許找到平枝，無咎。求得棲身之所，安穩無咎。
Wild goose gradually reaching tree, perhaps finding flat branch, no blame. Finding place to rest, secure without fault.
Nine in the fifth place
九五
鴻漸於陵，婦三歲不孕，終莫之勝，吉。
The wild goose gradually draws near the summit. For three years the woman has no child. In the end nothing can hinder her. Good fortune.
鴻雁漸進於山陵，婦人三年不孕，最終無可阻擋，吉。經歷考驗，終得圓滿。
Wild goose gradually reaching hilltop, woman three years barren, finally nothing can hinder, fortune. Going through trials, finally achieving fulfillment.

上九
鴻漸於陸，其羽可用為儀，吉。
The wild goose gradually draws near the clouds heights. Its feathers can be used for the sacred dance. Good fortune.
鴻雁漸進於雲陸，其羽毛可用作儀仗，吉。達到至高境界，德行可為典範。
Wild goose gradually reaching cloud heights, its feathers can be used for ceremony, fortune. Reaching supreme realm, virtue becomes exemplary.
