卦辭
革：己日乃孚，元亨利貞，悔亡。
Revolution. On your own day you are believed. Supreme success, furthering through perseverance. Remorse disappears.

象曰：澤中有火，革；君子以治歷明時。
Fire in the lake: the image of Revolution. Thus the superior man sets the calendar in order and makes the seasons clear.
Interpretation
詮釋
革卦象徵變革與革新。澤中有火，水火相息。應順應時勢，革故鼎新，但需審慎行事。
Revolution and renewal. Fire in lake, water and fire extinguish each other. Should follow circumstances, remove old establish new, but must act cautiously.

Nine at the beginning
初九
鞏用黃牛之革。
Wrapped in the hide of a yellow cow.
用黃牛皮束縛加固。時機未到，不可妄動，應穩固現狀。
Bound with yellow ox hide. Time not yet come, must not act rashly, should stabilize current situation.
Six in the second place
六二
己日乃革之，征吉，無咎。
When one's own day comes, one may create revolution. Starting brings good fortune. No blame.
到了己日才變革，前進吉，無咎。時機成熟，順應民心，變革必成。
When own day comes then revolution, advancing brings fortune, no blame. Time ripe, conforming to people's hearts, revolution will succeed.
Nine in the third place
九三
征凶，貞厲，革言三就，有孚。
Starting brings misfortune. Perseverance brings danger. When talk of revolution has gone the rounds three times, one may commit himself, and men will believe him.
前進則凶，守正危險，革命言論三次成熟，才有信服。變革需謹慎，反復考慮才行動。
Advancing brings misfortune, correctness dangerous, revolutionary words mature three times, then believed. Revolution needs caution, repeated consideration before action.

九四
悔亡，有孚改命，吉。
Remorse disappears. Men believe him. Changing the form of government brings good fortune.
悔恨消失，有誠信改變天命，吉。得人心者得天下，改革成功。
Regret vanishes, with sincerity changing mandate, fortune. One who wins hearts wins world, reform succeeds.
Nine in the fifth place
九五
大人虎變，未占有孚。
The great man changes like a tiger. Even before he questions the oracle he is believed.
大人如虎豹變化，未卜先知有信服。居尊位有德，變革威嚴而有力。
Great man changes like tiger, believed before divination. In high position with virtue, revolution authoritative and powerful.
Six at the top
上六
君子豹變，小人革面，征凶，居貞吉。
The superior man changes like a panther. The inferior man molts in the face. Starting brings misfortune. To remain persevering brings good fortune.
君子如豹細緻變化，小人改頭換面，前進凶，安守正道吉。變革已成，鞏固成果為要。
Noble changes like panther subtly, petty people change face, advancing misfortune, staying correct brings fortune. Revolution accomplished, consolidating results important.
