1. The Philosophical Pillars (道家三柱)
These three concepts are often misunderstood as abstract poetry. In reality, they are technical instructions for high-level energy work.
1. TAO (The Way / 道)
Definition: The undifferentiated source of all things. It is not a god, but the underlying operating system of the universe.
"The Tao that can be told is not the eternal Tao. The name that can be named is not the eternal name." — Dao De Jing, Ch. 1
For the Practitioner: You cannot "grasp" the Tao. You can only align with it. When drawing a talisman, if you try to "force" power, you block the Tao. If you become a hollow bamboo, the Tao flows through you.
「道可道,非常道。名可名,非常名。」 — 道德經 第一章
修行啟示: 道不可強求,只能順應。畫符時,若存「強求」之心,便阻礙了道。若如空竹般虛心,道自流轉。
2. ZIRAN (Self-So / Nature / 自然)
Definition: Often translated as "Nature," it literally means "Self-So" or "Whatever is like that of itself." It is the state of total spontaneity.
"Man follows Earth. Earth follows Heaven. Heaven follows the Tao. The Tao follows Ziran (its own nature)." — Dao De Jing, Ch. 25
For the Practitioner: Ziran is the mechanism of efficacy. A spell works best not when you "push" it, but when it unfolds as naturally as water flowing downhill.
「人法地,地法天,天法道,道法自然。」 — 道德經 第二十五章
修行啟示: 自然是靈驗的機制。法術之靈驗,不在於「推」,而在於如水下流般自然發生。
3. WUWEI (Non-Action / 無為)
Definition: Not "doing nothing," but "doing nothing against the grain." It is effortless action, or friction-free engagement.
"The Sage does nothing (Wuwei), yet nothing is left undone." — Dao De Jing, Ch. 48
For the Practitioner: This is the secret of the "Alter State." When you enter the trance to channel a deity, you must be in Wuwei. If your ego (action) interferes, the signal is distorted. Wuwei is the state of maximum efficiency.
「為無為,則無不治。」 — 道德經 第三章
修行啟示: 這是「壇前狀態」的秘訣。請神時,心須無為。若小我(有為)干擾,訊號必亂。無為即是最高效率之狀態。
2. The Engine: Neidan & The Three Treasures (內丹與三寶)
If Philosophy is the software, Neidan (Internal Alchemy) is the hardware maintenance. It relies on the conservation and transmutation of three vital substances: Jing, Qi, and Shen .
1. JING (Essence)精
The Fuel. Physical vitality, sexual energy, hormonal fluids, and genetic potential. It resides in the Lower Dantian (abdomen).
Training: Conserving vital fluids, sexual moderation, grounding practices.
2. QI (Energy)氣
The Current. Breath, animation, electromagnetic force. It circulates through the meridians. Associated with the Middle Dantian (heart/chest).
Training: Breathwork (Tu Na), Qigong, circulation.
3. SHEN (Spirit)神
The Light. Consciousness, intelligence, the "immortal fetus." Resides in the Upper Dantian (mind/third eye).
Training: Meditation, visualization, stillness.
🔥 The Alchemical Process (Lian - Smelting)
The goal of Internal Alchemy is to reverse the process of creation (returning to the Tao). This is done in three stages:
- Lian Jing Hua Qi (煉精化氣): Refining Essence into Energy. Turning physical vitality into subtle breath.
- Lian Qi Hua Shen (煉氣化神): Refining Energy into Spirit. Turning breath into pure consciousness/radiance.
- Lian Shen Huan Xu (煉神還虛): Refining Spirit to return to Emptiness (The Void/Tao).
3. What is the "Dan" (Elixir)?
Novices often ask, "Where is the pill?" The Dan (丹) is not a physical object. It is a cohesive field of high-density energy formed when Jing, Qi, and Shen are fused together under the heat of focus (fire).
Why does a Magician need a Dan?
- Without a Dan (stored energy center), ritual magic draws from your physical life force (Jing), leading to early aging or sickness.
- With a Dan, you draw power from this "battery" to fuel talismans, leaving your physical body unharmed.
