In Daoist Magic: Fire (Incense, Talisman burning, Candles) is the primary medium of communication with the Upper Realms, providing "clarity" (Ming) to Heaven. Water (Fa Shui) provides grounding and purifying "strength" (Qiang) in the physical realm.
