Liuren Magic Sanctuary
A skillful master is not aggressive.
A skillful fighter is not angry.
A skillful conqueror does not contend.
A skillful employer stays below his men.
This is called the Virtue of Non-contention (Buzheng).
This is called the ability to use the strength of others.
This is called being matched with Heaven—the ultimate goal of the ancients.
In Liuren Fajiao, this chapter describes the Ethics of Spiritual Conflict. A master who is "Not aggressive" (不武) is one who only uses magic for defense or restoration, never for ego-driven attack. To be "Not angry" (不怒) is vital; anger distorts the Qi and makes the magic unstable and dangerous to the practitioner.
"Not contending" (不與) means resolving a spiritual situation without entering into a direct, violent "clash" of forces. Instead, the master uses the "Strength of others"—the power of the Immortal Master and the Spirits of the Lineage—to neutralize the threat. By "staying below" (humility), the practitioner allows the higher forces to act through them.
This state of "Non-contention" is how a master is "Matched with Heaven" (配天). It is the highest level of cultivation, where the practitioner's will is perfectly aligned with the natural laws of the Dao.
