Translation

When the great Dao is abandoned, "humanity" and "righteousness" appear.
When "wisdom" and "cleverness" emerge, great hypocrisy arises.

When the six family relations are in disharmony, "filial piety" and "parental love" are promoted.
When the state is in chaos, "loyal ministers" are praised.

📜 Liuren Perspective

In Liuren Fajiao, this chapter warns us about the Decline of the Heart-Method. When a practitioner loses their direct connection to the Dao, they start to emphasize external "righteousness" and "clever" ritual techniques to compensate. This is the beginning of "Great Hypocrisy" (大偽).

If we focus too much on the "labels" of being a "loyal disciple" or a "benevolent teacher" without the actual internal cultivation, we are merely performing. True filial piety towards the Immortal Master is natural and silent; it doesn't need to be "promoted" or shown off.

A practitioner must strive to return to the simple, unified Dao where "humanity" is an lived reality, not a slogan. We must be wary of "cleverness" (智慧) that seeks to manipulate spirits for personal glory.
